Horizon Forbidden West is Coming to PS4 in Addition to PS5

Horizon: Forbidden West will launch on the PlayStation 4 alongside the PlayStation 5 version whenever the game releases in 2021.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony confirmed Horizon: Forbidden West is also coming to the PlayStation 4.

PlayStation President and CEO Jim Ryan confirmed the PS4 version will release the same day as the PlayStation 5 version. For those that own the PS4 version and eventually upgrade to the PS5, you’ll get the next-gen version for free, whether you’re playing it digitally or physically. In addition to Horizon: Forbidden West, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure will also be available on the PlayStation 4.

Horizon: Forbidden West was announced back in June during PlayStation’s The Future of Gaming Showcase. Not much is known about the story but we know it’s coming sometime in 2021. Additionally, we know that the game will feature over a dozen new enemies for Aloy to fight.

After months of speculation, Sony finally confirmed the PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 for $499 for the disc-based version and $399 for the digital edition. The console will launch in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea on the 12th followed by the 19th for the rest of the world. Preorders start sometime tomorrow at select retailers, but PlayStation hasn’t specified which ones.

In addition to the price and release date, Sony announced the PlayStation Plus Collection, which features a variety of first and third-party games that’ll be available on the PS5 at launch. Some of these games include 2018’s God of War, The Last of Us Remastered, Persona 5, Bloodborne, and more.

During the showcase, we also got looks at upcoming games like Final Fantasy XVI, Demon Souls, and Resident Evil: Village. Additionally, we got a brief tease of Sony Santa Monica’s follow-up to God of War which releases next year.

Horizon: Forbidden West launches in 2021 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PS5 will be available on November 12 in some regions followed by the 19 in the rest of the world. As we learn more about the PS5, we’ll be sure to let you know. You can watch the PS5 showcase below.
