Special Edition Announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X Launch

An expanded version of the original game, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will release digitally for the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X.

With its original release last year, Devil May Cry 5 kicked its way into high gear with a brand new entry in the long-running action franchise for both series fans and newcomers alike. If you missed out on the game initially or want to experience it again with next-gen polish, Dante’s latest adventure is coming back for next-gen platforms this holiday season.

During Sony’s PS5 Showcase, Capcom revealed that a new iteration of DMC5 is coming this holiday called Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. The trailer highlighted that alongside the original game, the Special Edition will feature the ability to play as Dante’s brother Vergil, and will seemingly include new story content and other additional features, such as Turbo Mode, Legendary Dark Knight, and support for ray tracing.

Capcom confirmed after the showcase that Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will be available at launch for both PS5 and Xbox Series X in November, but will initially be available as a digital-only title. The publisher explained that a physical version of the game will arrive at a later date for both platforms.

Alongside the release of the title for next-gen platforms, Capcom also added that owners of the original game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC will be able to play as Vergil with a paid DLC. However, it’s unclear if the additional added features will make their way into the current-gen versions of the game as well.
